Mulraine joins Bone McAllester Norton

Bone McAllester Norton PLLC has hired entertainment attorney and Belmont Law professor Loren E. Mulraine as the firm’s 38th attorney.

Mulraine will serve as of counsel at Bone McAllester Norton, where he will focus his practice on entertainment law, intellectual property and business and corporate law. He will continue in his role at Belmont University College of Law, teaching courses in copyright law, entertainment law, media law and intellectual property law.

In the entertainment industry, Mulraine’s client roster has included Grammy, Dove and Stellar award winners; gold, platinum and multi-platinum selling artists; producers and songwriters; entrepreneurs; filmmakers; and management companies.

Mulraine also is an independent recording gospel artist and songwriter.

Mulraine’s prior experience includes on-air radio personality and music production to serving as a government contracts attorney with the Federal Aviation Administration in Washington, D.C. He also previously was a full professor and chair of the Department of Recording Industry at Middle Tennessee State University, where he taught for 14 years.

He is a graduate of the University of Maryland and the Howard University School of Law.

Kopstain named Vanderbilt vice chancellor for finance


Eric C. Kopstain, associate vice chancellor for finance, has been named Vanderbilt University’s vice chancellor for administration, following a national search.

Kopstain will assume his new role July 1, pending approval by the Vanderbilt Board of Trust. He succeeds Jerry Fife, who is retiring from Vanderbilt after 15 years of service, the last five as vice chancellor for administration.

A 23-year veteran of higher education administration, finance and planning, Kopstain came to Vanderbilt in May 2012 from Harvard University, where he was associate dean of finance for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.

As vice chancellor for administration, he will assume responsibility for the university’s administrative infrastructure.

His broad-ranging portfolio includes human resources, business services, facilities and construction, contract and grant accounting, police, environmental health and safety, traffic and parking, printing services, health and wellness for faculty and staff, and equal opportunity, affirmative action and disability services.

TriStar Centennial selects chief operating officer


TriStar Centennial is pleased to announce that Brian Marger, FACHE, has been appointed chief operating officer of TriStar Centennial Medical Center.

Marger joined HCA from Ernst & Young Consulting’s health care division in 2003 as the assistant vice president, Strategic Resource Group. From there, he served as the COO for Osceola Regional Medical Center in Kissimmee, Florida, where he as an integral part of service line strategy development, improvement of operational efficiencies, and improvement of patient outcomes.

He joins the TriStar Centennial team from his most recent role as vice president of operations for Sarah Cannon Research Institute, a global research organization headquartered in Nashville.

Marger earned a degree in political science from Duke University and an MBA, with an emphasis in finance and health care, from the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University.

Entrepreneurs’ Organization adds 22 Nashville members

The Nashville chapter of Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) – recognized for the past three years as one of the fastest-growing EO chapters in the world – has announced the addition of 22 new members.

The new members bring a combined $209,409,800 in annual sales and 1,023 full-time employees to the group’s ranks. Sixty-eight percent of the new member companies call Davidson County home, and 27 percent are located in Williamson County.

The Nashville EO chapter has a total of 169 members, which represents at 15 percent year-over-year growth for the chapter. To join, an entrepreneur must be a founder, co-founder, owner or controlling shareholder of a company with gross annual sales exceeding $1 million.

Wynd joins Capella as assistant VP


Ben Wynd, CPA, has joined Capella Healthcare as assistant vice president – accounting and financial reporting.

Most recently, he was the director of financial reporting at Tenet Healthcare/Vanguard, where he was actively engaged in working on the company’s SEC filings, including Vanguard’s initial public offering in June 2011, comprehensive debt refinancing, overseeing the financial reporting of the Company’s health plans and supporting acquisition due diligence.

He is a graduate of Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky.

In addition to the partnership with the Junior League of Nashville, now in its tenth year, more than 130 graduates enter the nonprofit community each year from four other Young Leaders Council classes, including two in Davidson County, one in Williamson County and another in partnership with Jackson National Life in Franklin.

More than 2,000 men and women have graduated from the Young Leaders Council program since it was created in 1985 to broaden and strengthen Nashville’s volunteer leadership base.

UT honors director of Catholic Charities


Bill Sinclair, executive director of Catholic Charities of Tennessee since 1986, has been awarded the 2014 Commitment to Service Award by the University of Tennessee College of Social Work.

Sinclair has taught fiscal management classes for nearly 20 years at the UT’s Nashville campus, instructing many of today’s non-profit community leaders.

Sinclair was presented with the award in a special ceremony that featured a video of testimonials from coworkers and students.

Penterman receives award from home health group


Carol Penterman, owner and CEO of Interim HealthCare of Middle Tennessee, has been named Outstanding Homecare Leader Award for 2014 by the Tennessee Association of Home Care.

This award honors an individual who has demonstrated extraordinary leadership in improving the quality of home care. Criteria for the award include teamwork/staff relations, coordination of patient care, delivery of care, and agency management.

Penterman opened Interim HealthCare of Middle Tennessee in November 2012. After serving the Nashville Opera and Arts community for 19 years, Penterman made the decision to take her knowledge and skills into a new arena. The firm differentiates itself through the professional training and skills of each of the caregivers.

Blankenship to lead school’s Madison campus


Richard L. Blankenship of Hendersonville has been named campus director for the Madison Campus of National College of Business & Technology.

Blankenship will serve as the chief academic and administrative officer for the campus and is the college’s senior official in the community.

Blankenship has over 20 years of active-duty service to the United States Air Force.
